Labor8 ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our collective intelligence platform.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. If you sign up using Google or Microsoft authentication, we receive your name and email from those services.

1.2 Payment Information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processing provider collects your payment card details. We do not store your full card number; we only receive limited card details for display purposes.

1.3 API Keys

If you use Bring Your Own Keys (BYOK), you provide API keys for AI model providers for content synthesis. These keys are encrypted using AES-256 encryption before storage. We use your keys solely to make API calls on your behalf during sessions. We never share your keys with other users or third parties.

1.4 Session Content

We collect the content you contribute to sessions, including text submissions, objectives, and any files you upload. This content is necessary to provide our synthesis and Outcome Artifact features.

1.5 Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you use Labor8, including pages visited, features used, session participation, timestamps, and device information (browser type, operating system, IP address).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide, maintain, and improve the Labor8 platform
Process your contributions through AI models for synthesis and gatekeeping
Generate Outcome Artifacts with proper attribution
Process payments and manage subscriptions
Send transactional emails (session invitations, password resets, billing notifications)
Analyze usage patterns to improve our service
Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
Comply with legal obligations

3. AI Processing

Your session contributions are processed by AI models to provide consensus gatekeeping and synthesis. When using BYOK, your content is sent directly to your selected AI model providers using your API keys. When using managed inference, we use our own provider keys.

4. Data Sharing

4.1 With Other Users

Your contributions to sessions are visible to other session participants with attribution (your name). Public sessions are visible to all Labor8 users. You control session visibility when creating a session.

4.2 With Service Providers

We share information with third-party service providers who help us operate Labor8:

AI model providers for content synthesis: Process session content for synthesis
Database and authentication provider
Application hosting provider
Payment processing provider
Email delivery provider

4.3 Aggregated Data

We may use aggregated, anonymized data that does not identify individual users for research, analytics, and to improve our services. This aggregated data may be shared with third parties or used for commercial purposes.

4.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or government request, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or the public.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Session content is retained indefinitely unless you delete it. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes.

Contributions to sessions hosted by other users will remain visible (with attribution) even after you delete your account, as they form part of the session record.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

All data transmitted to and from Labor8 is encrypted using TLS 1.3
API keys are encrypted at rest using AES-256
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt
Access to production systems is restricted and logged
We conduct regular security assessments

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

Access: Request a copy of your personal data
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
Deletion: Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
Export: Request your data in a portable format
Objection: Object to certain processing of your data
Restriction: Request restriction of processing

8. International Transfers

Labor8 is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will delete that information promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Labor8 after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
